2016 Hail Mary
The inaugural release of our Hail Mary Syrah was in 2011 and it was anything but planned. With the final 7 tons of perfect Syrah picked and rain in the forecast for the following day, our destemmer broke leaving us with 14 bins of Syrah and no way to crush it. With no alternative, we threw a proverbial “Hail Mary” and dumped all of the fruit into two open top fermenters outside stems and all. Three and half weeks later we dubiously opened the bottom valve only to be blown away by the most floral and intoxicating aromas we could imagine. The flavors followed suit and it immediately became a staff and consumer favorite. Only one name seemed even remotely appropriate for the: Hail Mary.
